Not All VoIP Services Are Created Equal

Voice over IP — Is your carrier right for you?

As more SMB customers are looking to reduce telecom costs, they are turning to voice over IP (VoIP). But, choosing the right carrier can be tricky. Many VoIP providers taut a high-quality voice experience over the Internet, but what they are neglecting to tell you is that they are quick to hand off the voice traffic onto the public internet where it is susceptible to jitter and packet-loss which leads to a "un-high-quality" voice experience on both ends of the call. Instead, customers want to look for a carrier that:

  1. Keeps traffic off the public internet to provide bi-directional voice quality. Just because a company is providing a VoIP service, that doesn't mean the traffic has to ride the public internet, where there is no guarantee of the quality
  2. Offers QoS (Quality of Service) with Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation to ensure that voice traffic gets priority over any data traffic so that any packet loss is minimized
  3. Provides Data service, not just Voice service — an integrated offering simplifies the process for customers — there is only 1 vendor to deal with, 1 bill to receive and pay, and 1 vendor monitoring their network
  4. Supports multiple locations with inter-office dialing — by linking the voice and data service between multiple locations, 4 digit dialing between is possible. This saves the company money by providing "free" inter-office calls as well as securely sharing data over a private network
  5. Supports the standard business communication calling features — e.g. Caller ID, Transfer, DIDs, E911...everything that customers are used to using
  6. Is flexible and scalable allowing customers the ability choose the number of lines, speed of data, and long distance bundle packages that meet the customer's custom needs now and in the future. Customers don't want to be forced in selecting pre-determined packages that give them more services than they need and/or want to spend. They also don't want to spend money on "standard services" that are considered add-ones, such as voice mail, hunt groups, and white page listings
  7. Provides Security and Monitoring — customers need assurance that their voice and data circuits are safeguarded from security threats such as viruses and SPAM, as well as protected when the network goes down. They need services that are proactively monitored to minimize risk. After all, their business depends on customers being able to reach them and them being able to reach customers
  8. Has the coverage and wide size of "Voiceprint" — customers need to be able to get service no matter where they are located

MegaPath Inc. can meet all of the above criteria and more.
